The Toasted Ghost Espresso Mocktini is the spooky sip of the season! This playful Halloween mocktail is made with espresso, toasted marshmallow creamer, bitters, vanilla and features spooky marshmallow creme ghosts.

If you love Halloween mocktails and cocktails, you’ll also want to try my Pumpkin Punch (mocktail & cocktail),  or my Halloween Mimosa.

Halloween-themed espresso mocktail garnished with toasted marshmallows and decorated with a ghost design on the glass, surrounded by pumpkins and spooky decor.

Spooky season is one of my favorite times of the year. Just like your costume, you can get really creative with your drinks. This Halloween mocktail whips up in just 5 minutes with a shaker and a glass. Espresso (great for coffee lovers) makes a smooth base, while the toasted marshmallow creamer adds a rich creaminess to the mocktail. Simple syrup and bitters add contrast for the perfectly balanced mocktail.

Creating this Toasted Ghost Espresso Mocktini was a lot of fun and the trick is, there’s no “spirits” in sight, but your guests would never know. If you have guests who prefer “boo-ze”, you can always add your spirit of choice, making this spooky drink versatile and the perfect addition to your Halloween gathering.

Recipe Ingredients

See the recipe card for quantities.

  • Espresso: Chill your espresso before using. If you don’t have espresso, cold brew concentrate works great.
  • Aromatic bitters: If you want your mocktail to be completely alcohol free, opt for a non-alcoholic brand as bitters have alcohol in them. For this recipe, I used All the Bitter.
  • Unsweetened toasted marshmallow creamer: I used a dairy free one from Nutpods. Vanilla flavored or half and half would also work. If your creamer isn’t unsweetened, you’ll want to decrease or eliminate the simple syrup.
  • Simple syrup: you can make your own or use bottled.
  • Pure vanilla extract: Always opt for pure vanilla extract vs artificial.
  • Marshmallow creme: Use this to paint the inside of the glass.
  • Toasted marshmallows: Use for garnish as desired. Toast them using a kitchen torch or stovetop.

  • I used unsweetened marshmallow creamer, if you use a sweetened version, eliminate or decrease the simple syrup.
  • Have fun and toast your own marshmallows. You can toast your own marshmallows on the stove, over a fire, or with a kitchen torch.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I spike this espresso mocktini?

Yes! You can make the mocktail with your spirit of choice. Vodka is always my go-to for martinis but you can also use a coffee liqueur or if you like a bold spirit-forward drink, a bourbon or whiskey.

Are bitters non-alcoholic?

No, bitters are not non-alcoholic. They contain about a third of alcohol in their ingredients. So, if you would like to make a mocktail with bitters, make sure you buy a brand that specifically denotes they are “NA” or “non-alcoholic”.

What is a fun way to garnish a Halloween mocktail?

Make marshmallow ghosts inside your glass with marshmallow creme, and draw eyes and mouth on the glass with permanent makers. You can also try a black salt or black sugar rim like in my Midnight Margarita or a ghost apple like in the Harvest Apple (Apple Cider Whiskey Cocktail).
