Morning Glow (Healthy, Collagen Mocktail)

I created this collagen mocktail with glowing skin in mind. I find that starting my day off with something good for me sets me up for the day ahead.

This morning mocktail is just that – bursting with fresh citrus, hydrating coconut, and collagen powder- it’s such a treat!

Recipe Ingredients

  • Ginger Ale: I used Q GINGER ALE. You want a ginger ale with high quality ingredients. I like that this one is sweetened with agave and isn’t too sweet. Optionally, you can substitute with ginger beer.
  • Lemon: Use the ripest lemons you can get your hands on.
  • Blood orange: Rich and delicious, this is one of my favorite citrus flavors. Substitute with navel if blood orange isn’t available.
  • Collagen powder: I love Sports Research Collagen Powder as a healthful addition that subtly blends in. It blends in smoothly, too.
  • Honey: This naturally sweetens the healthy mocktail. I love to use Local Hive Honey
  • Coconut water: Brings a refreshing, hydrating base with mild sweetness.
  • Lemon zest, dried hibiscus, sea salt (for rim): You can leave this out, but I love the floral, citrusy pop that it adds.
  • Sage (for garnish): For an earthy aroma, I always add a garnish if I’m making this for friends.
  • Blood orange (for garnish): It looks so pretty and just ties everything together.

How to Make It

  • Prepare citrus: cut and juice blood orange. Wash the lemon and cut it into wedges.
  • Add lemon wedges, blood orange juice, collagen powder, honey, and coconut water to the blender. Blend the ingredients until smooth and strain them. You may need to use a whisk to get all the liquid through.
  • In a shallow dish, mix the lemon zest, dried hibiscus, and sea salt. Dampen the rims of the glasses with a little honey or citrus and coat them in the salt mixture.
  • Fill glasses with ice and pour in the mocktail. Top with Q GINGER ALE.
  • Garnish your healthy mocktail with sage and blood orange slices.
