I partnered with Q Mixers to mix up the Garden Gin Spritz recipe! Recipe and ideas are my own.

Garden Gin Spritz cocktail in a tall glass with cucumber strip for garnish and floral garnish. Surrounded by lemons, mint leaves and pink flowers.

If youโ€™ve been following along for a while, you know I love using fresh herbs and edible flowers in all of my cocktails. And while I donโ€™t claim to have a green thumb (mine definitely leans more black thumb), we have been working on our own cocktail garden and Iโ€™m happy to share that we were able to keep a few things alive and included them in this cocktail. Thereโ€™s something so satisfying about snipping a few sprigs straight from the garden and turning them into something sippable.

Fresh basil and mint from the garden really brighten this spritz when combined with cucumber, gin and prosecco. Top it all off with Q Club Soda for an easy-to-make, bubbly summer sip.

Recipe Ingredients

  • Gin: Pick a high quality gin. I used Hendrickโ€™s Gin which is known for its unique cucumber forward, floral, and refreshing flavor profile that works really well with the ingredients in this drink.
  • Prosecco:  I used Mionetto Prosecco. Champagne or your sparkling white wine of choice will also work.
  • Mint and basil: Use fresh (not dried) mint and basil leaves. Feel free to incorporate or substitute other fresh herbs like rosemary or tarragon.
  • Honey: I always look for 100% pure honey. We used Local Hive Honey. Simple syrup or agave would also work.
  • Lemon: Fresh squeezed is always best! Lime juice would work great as well. If youโ€™re making this in the winter, try meyer lemons which are a bit sweeter, less acidic and have subtle floral notes.
  • Cucumber: Fresh cucumber for drink and garnish.
  • Club Soda: Or sparkling water. I recommend Q Club Soda – high in carbonation and contains Himalayan salt, which helps bring out all the fresh flavors of the cocktail.
  • Edible Flowers, mint: For garnish.

How to Make This Recipe

Step 1: Dice your cucumber. You can peel or leave the skin on.

Step 2:  To a cocktail shaker – add mint leaves, basil leaves and lemon. Gently muddle to release oils, but make sure not to tear the herbs apart or theyโ€™ll get bitter. Add diced cucumber and honey. Muddle again, firmly this time, to extract the juice from the cucumber and dissolve the honey. Add gin and ice to the cocktail shaker, cover with lid, and shake until well chilled.

Step 3: Fill a wine glass with ice. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass. Add the Q Club Soda and prosecco and stir to combine. If desired, garnish with herbs, edible flowers and cucumber.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between a gin fizz and a gin spritz?

A gin fizz is a classic cocktail made with gin, citrus, a sweetener, egg whites, and club soda. A gin spritz, on the other hand, does not include egg white, but includes sparkling wine (like prosecco) and often incorporates other ingredients like cucumber or herbs.

Can I make a batch of the Gin Spritzes?

Yes! Multiply the recipe below by the desired servings. Dilute the honey with a bit of hot water to help it mix smoothly.. Add all ingredients to a pitcher with ice and stir to combine. If making in advance, add prosecco, club soda and ice right before serving.

Can I make a Garden Spritz Mocktail?

Yes! You can replace the gin with coconut water or chamomile tea and swap prosecco with non-alcoholic bubbly or extra club soda!
