Apple-rol Spritz

Fall is here, and I’m all about embracing the cozy vibes and warm flavors that come with it! It’s the perfect time to transition from those light and fruity summer drinks to something a bit more autumnal. That’s where the Apple-rol Spritz comes in. The Aperol spritz gets a fall makeover with this autumn riff that captures the essence of fall flavors in a glass. With a cinnamon and caramel rim, a blend of some of my favorite ingredients like hard cider, Aperol, and prosecco, this cocktail is sure to become your go-to for chilly evenings. I used LaCroix sparkling water to top it off for some extra fizz, but any sparkling water works here. Cheers!

Ingredients for the Apple-rol Spritz

  • Aperol: Aperol’s bittersweet and citrusy notes bring balance to the cocktail.
  • Prosecco: The sparkling wine that adds effervescence to the drink. I like Mionetto Prosecco for its crisp and fruity profile.
  • Hard Cider: Use your favorite apple hard cider. I used 2 Towns Cosmic Crisp because it’s apple-forward with a hint of tartness.
  • Sparkling Water: A splash of sparkling water keeps things light and refreshing. I had LaCroix on hand.
  • Caramel: The caramel rim is optional but highly recommended. I used a thicker caramel topping that I found in the ice cream aisle at my grocery store.
  • Cinnamon Sugar: No need to measure but combine granulated sugar with a dash or two of cinnamon for the cinnamon sugar rim.
  • Apple Slice, Cinnamon Stick : Dress up the Apple-rol Spritz with an apple slice and a cinnamon stick!

How to Make the Apple-rol Spritz

The Apple-rol Spritz is so easy to make and comes together in just 5 minutes! Start by creating the caramel-cinnamon rim. Use two shallow dishes, one for caramel and the other for the cinnamon sugar. First, dip the rim of the glass in caramel, then coat it evenly with cinnamon sugar. Next, add ice cubes to the glass. Add Aperol, Prosecco, and hard cider to the glass and top it off with a splash of sparkling water. Give it a stir. Finally, garnish with a thin apple slice and a cinnamon stick for a hint of apple and spice in your sips!

What is Prosecco?

Prosecco, an Italian sparkling wine, brings effervescence and a touch of sophistication to various cocktails, including the Apple-rol Spritz. Prosecco earns its reputation for affordability and approachability, setting it apart from its French counterpart, champagne. Drink enthusiasts celebrate its fruitier and lighter profile, making it an excellent choice for crafting refreshing mixed drinks.
