These Amaretto Pear Margaritas are one of those cocktails that tastes a little more special than the effort required to make it. The pear juice brings a mellow, fruity sweetness, while amaretto adds a subtle almond note that works surprisingly well with tequila. Fresh lime juice keeps the drink bright and balanced, and a little maple syrup ties all of the fall flavors together. I truly wasn’t expecting this drink to be so delicious, but all of the ingredients perfectly complement each other so well!
I especially love this one for Thanksgiving and Friendsgiving. It feels festive enough for a holiday gathering but is simple enough to shake up a large batch while you’re getting everything else ready.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe
- A cozy fall twist on a margarita: Pear, amaretto, and maple give this cocktail a warm seasonal flavor without making it overly sweet.
- Balanced, not syrupy: Fresh lime juice and a pinch of sea salt balance the pear juice, amaretto, and maple.
- Easy to make: You only need a cocktail shaker and 5 minutes to make a single margarita.
- Perfect for entertaining: The recipe can easily be batched for Thanksgiving, Friendsgiving, or a fall dinner party.
- Beautiful presentation: Pear slices, dehydrated citrus, and sage make this cocktail feel extra festive with very little effort.
Key Ingredients
See the recipe card for quantities.
- Tequila: Use either reposado or blanco tequila. I used Milagro reposado, which adds a little extra warmth and depth that works great with the fall flavors.
- Amaretto: This is the ingredient that makes this margarita unique – the sweet almond flavor pairs beautifully with pear and adds a subtle nutty richness. I like the brand Disaronno (which I also used in my Easy Amaretto Spritz Recipe)!
- Pear juice: Look for 100% juice (like RW Knudsen) rather than a sweetened blend if possible.
- Fresh lime juice: Freshly squeezed lime juice adds the acidity needed to balance the sweeter ingredients.
- Pure maple syrup: A small amount adds another layer of cozy fall flavor. Use pure maple syrup rather than pancake syrup.
- Sea salt: Just a pinch helps bring all of the flavors together and keeps the cocktail from tasting too sweet.
🍐 Expert tip: Since pear juice can vary in sweetness, taste the finished cocktail before adding any extra maple syrup. You may find you prefer it with slightly less depending on the juice you use.
Substitutions & Variations
- Tequila: Reposado gives the cocktail a warmer, slightly richer flavor, but blanco tequila also works well if you prefer a brighter margarita. You can also swap for vodka or whiskey.
- Juice swap: Swap pear juice for 100% apple cider or even orange juice for a different variation.
- Maple syrup: If you prefer a less sweet margarita, reduce the maple syrup or leave it out entirely. Honey syrup or simple syrup can also work here.
- Make it a mocktail: Swap the tequila with coconut water or chilled tea and add a dash of almond extract instead of amaretto for a non-alcoholic alternative. Make sure to adjust the lime, pear juice and maple syrup to taste!

Carolyn’s Tips for Making Amaretto Pear Margaritas
- I recommend 100% pear juice: This gives a clean, fresh pear flavor without unnecessary added sweetness.
- Use pure maple syrup: I would try to avoid pancake syrup for better quality taste.
- Batch ahead of time: Prepare up to 24 hours in advance by multiplying the ingredients and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Shake before serving or serve in a pitcher over ice.
- Make it a mocktail: Swap the tequila with coconut water or chilled tea and add a dash of almond extract instead of amaretto for a non-alcoholic alternative. Make sure to adjust the lime, pear juice and maple syrup to taste!
Amaretto Pear Margaritas FAQs
A pear margarita is typically made with tequila, pear juice, fresh lime juice, and a sweetener. This version adds amaretto for a subtle almond flavor and maple syrup for an extra cozy fall note.
Yes! Amaretto pairs very well with pear because its sweet almond flavor complements the fruit. In this recipe, amaretto also adds depth and makes the margarita taste suited to fall and holiday gatherings. Trust me, you’ll love it!
Both reposado and blanco tequila work well in a pear margarita. Reposado is great for this fall-inspired version because its warmer flavor complements the pear, amaretto, and maple syrup.
Yes. Pear margaritas can be mixed 24 hours ahead of serving, especially when making a batch for a party. Prepare the cocktail mixture without ice and refrigerate it until you’re ready to serve, then quickly shake with ice and pour over fresh ice. (Alternatively, you can add a little bit of ice or water to the pitcher so it waters down the mixture slightly, then you don’t have to shake before serving and the drink won’t be too strong).
