What Fruit To Use in the Berry Wine Slushie?
You can use any assortment of berries. I prefer to pick up a big bag of already frozen fruit from the supermarket for simplicity. These blends usually contain a mixture of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. But, you can also pick up any additional berries or substitute it for black berries or cherries – either frozen or fresh and then freeze them for a few hours.
These options would balance well with the Risata Blueberry Wine as it also has blueberry notes and hints of cherry.
Ingredients for the Berry Wine Slushie
Just four ingredients for this fresh and frozen treat? Count me in! See what I used to make the Berry Wine Slushie and any additional substitutes for this recipe.
- Risata Blueberry Wine: this refreshingly semi-sweet wine, boasts intense flavors of fresh blueberry and a soft hint of cherry. It’s well-balanced and smooth for the perfect addition to this recipe.
- Frozen mixed berries: pick up a bag of frozen berries from your local grocery store, or pop your fresh fruits into the freezer for a few hours to achieve that icy, frozen texture as a final result. Note: It’s important to use frozen berries to achieve that icy, slushie texture as the end result.
- Elderflower liqueur: for a hint of sweetness and depth add elderflower liqueur to the mix. You can also substitute this ingredient for orange or berry liqueur or a sweetener like agave, honey syrup, or simple syrup.
- Ice: To make this slushie even icier, add an additional cup of ice
- Berries and edible flowers: Top this frozen treat with something pretty! Add additional berries and your favorite edible flowers.
