The Cucumber Lime Mocktail

If you’re looking a delicious and refreshing alcohol-free drink for a crowd, this large batch mocktail is my go to this time of year. The Cucumber Lime Mocktail is the perfect drink for a baby shower, bbq or summer party. It’s mixed together in a large batch with simple ingredients like cucumber, lime, fresh herbs, limeade, and sparkling water.

Providing booze-free beverages that can be enjoyed by the whole family is an amazing added touch when you’re hosting. Not to mention, non-alcoholic beverages are definitely having a moment, so having a few easy recipes in your back pocket is key. The Cucumber Lime Mocktail is one of the best mocktail recipes because it’s so easy to replenish throughout the day by adding it’s two main ingredients to your batch – limeade concentrate and sparkling water.

What Does Mocktail Mean?

Mocktail is another word for a non-alcoholic drink. Mocktails are generally mixed drinks made with several ingredients that sometimes mirror the flavor, presentation and experience of cocktails. We’ve come a long way since a Shirley Temple was the only option for you if you’re abstaining from alcohol. Most bars and restaurants have an amazing mocktail on their menu. Mocktails can include ingredients like fresh fruit, juices, herbs, teas, spices and non-alcoholic spirits.

Ingredients for the Cucumber Lime Mocktail

  • Cucumber: Sliced cucumber adds a bright freshness to this mocktail.
  • Lime: Slice a lime into rounds or wedges. Other citrus fruits like lemon or pink grapefruit are a good substitute if you don’t have lime.
  • Mint: Fresh mint adds a fun, herbal element to the cocktail. If you don’t have mint, basil is the perfect substitute.
  • Tarragon: For added depth, add tarragon to the pitcher. You can make this recipe without tarragon but I love that it adds a bright earthiness which balances well with the sweet and citrus notes.
  • Frozen Limeade Concentrate: You can find this canned in the frozen section at your grocery store. I used Hawaii’s Own which is my favorite.
  • Sparkling water: I really like to have a bubbly element in my batch drinks. Finish this mocktail with sparkling water or club soda like Topo Chico or LaCroix. You can also add in ginger beer or ginger ale but you’d want to add less limeade concentrate so it’s not too sweet.

How to Make the Cucumber Lime Mocktail

This Cucumber Lime Mocktail is SO simple. In three easy steps, you can put together this delicious mocktail recipe.

To begin, grab your pitcher or water dispenser add the cucumber slices, lime slices, mint leaves, and tarragon leaves to a pitcher, and gently muddle with the bottom of a wooden spoon. This is important because it will release the fruit juices and natural oils from the herbs. Allow these ingredients to infuse together, then add the frozen limeade, sparkling water, and ice. Stir to combine and divide the mixture into glasses. If desired, serve with edible flowers, if desired.

Can I add a non-alcoholic spirit to the Cucumber Lime Mocktail?

Absolutely! Just add your favorite non-alcoholic spirit like NA tequila or NA gin to the batch.

Do I need to thaw the limeade concentrate before adding it?

No need to thaw! The limeade concentrate will melt quickly once you add the other ingredients and stir.

What if I can’t find limeade concentrate?

Limeade concentrate is generally found canned in the freezer section of the grocery store. If you can’t find it, you can also make this recipe with bottled limeade but you’ll want to lower the amount of sparkling water. Otherwise, you can substitute fresh lime juice or lemon juice and simple syrup or maple syrup, but you may have to play around with the proportions to find the perfect balance.

Can I make the Cucumber Lime Mocktail in advance?

If you want to prep this drink in advance, add everything except the sparkling water and ice to a large pitcher and store in the refrigerator. Add the sparkling water and ice before serving.

Can I make an alcoholic version of the Cucumber Lime Mocktail?

Yes! To make this a cocktail, add vodka, gin or tequila.

What other variations of this drink can I make?

You can add jalapeno slices to make the drink spicy. Or keeping the base of sparkling water and limeade concentrate, you can customize this mocktail in SO many ways. Adding additional elements like pineapple juice, cranberry juice or fresh fruit is a great way to modify the drink for the season or the theme of your event.
