More About Empress 1908 Gin

Empress 1908 Gin is one of my favorite spirits, and with its purple hue, it is perfect for mixing up beautiful drinks that WOW!

This amazing gin originates from the Victoria Distillers in British Columbia and it’s crafted with eight botanicals including juniper, grapefruit peel, butterfly pea blossoms, and the Fairmont Empress Blend Tea in small batch copper pots. Empress 1908 Gin has more of a botanical-forward taste, so it mixes well with fresh, floral, and bright ingredients. It even changes colors when you add citrus to it! Try it for yourself in the Lavender Love Cocktail. Click here to purchase Empress 1908 Gin.

Ingredients for the Lavender Love Cocktail

  • Empress 1908 Gin: this violet-hued gin adds the perfect combination of color and flavor to any cocktail, especially our lavender one! It’s micro-distilled in small, copper pots with eight botanicals like juniper, coriander, cinnamon, and butterfly pea blossom.
  • Lavender Syrup: I used Monin Lavender Syrup but homemade lavender syrup would be amazing in this drink!
  • Lemon juice: Fresh lemon is always best but you can also use store-bought citrus juice if you’re in a pinch.
  • Pure Vanilla Extract: Make sure to grab pure vanilla extract which is made with real vanilla beans. I actually used a homemade vanilla extract made by my family for this one!
  • Lemon Sparkling Water: Any citrus or plain sparkling water or seltzer will do. I used LaCroix Lemon Sparkling Water.
  • Sugar, Dried Lavender, Lemon Zest: Garnish the side of the glass with this fun and colorful mix! You can find Dried Lavender here.
  • Lemon slice, Lavender: top this cocktail with a lemon slice and lavender to elevate the drink even more!

How to Make the Lavender Love Cocktail

Let’s mix up the Lavender Love Cocktail! Start by combining sugar, dried lavender, and lemon zest on a shallow plate. Coat the cocktail glass rim with lemon juice so the sugar mix can stick. Then submerge the cocktail glass in sugar mix to coat the rim.

For the cocktail, add Empress 1908 Gin, lemon, lavender syrup, vanilla extract, and ice to a cocktail shaker. Then shake until the outside of the shaker chilled. Next, strain the mixture into the cocktail glass you prepared with the rim. Finally, top that with lemon sparkling water. If desired, you can garnish with a lemon slice and lavender.
