Strawberry Limoncello Spritz
Transport to the coast of Italy with the Strawberry Limoncello Spritz crafted with bright limoncello, luscious strawberry puree, and topped off with bubbly prosecco.
I was sipping on this refreshing Strawberry Limoncello Spritz to prep for our first trip as a family to Italy! With just a handful of ingredients and a few steps, I whipped this up in 5 minutes.
Limoncello is a citrusy Italian liqueur that perfectly complements fresh strawberries. Prosecco adds refreshing bubbles, but feel free to use sparkling white or champagne if you prefer. I used a splash of plain sparkling water, but get creative with flavored varieties. Garnish with strawberries, a lemon slice, and edible flower for the finishing touches and enjoy!
Making the Strawberry Limoncello Spritz is quick and easy! Start by filling a wine glass with ice. You can check out my favorite glasses here. Next, pour in the limoncello and strawberry puree, followed by the prosecco. Give everything a gentle stir to combine, then top it off with a splash of sparkling water. Garnish with a slice of lemon, fresh strawberries, and edible flower before sipping!
If you don’t have strawberry puree on hand, muddled strawberries work well too. Just remove the stem of 2 to 3 strawberries. Add to a sturdy stemless wine glass and muddle until broken down. Add ice and proceed with the rest of the recipe as instructed.
Limoncello is a traditional Italian liqueur made from lemon zest, alcohol, water, and sugar. It originates from Southern Italy, particularly the Amalfi Coast and the islands of Capri and Sorrento. Known for its bright yellow hue and citrusy flavor, limoncello is often enjoyed as a refreshing after-dinner digestif or used in cocktails like the Strawberry Limoncello spritz!
While I recommend fresh strawberries for their vibrant flavor and color, you can use frozen strawberries in a pinch. Simply thaw them before blending into a puree, and adjust the sweetness as needed.
If you don’t have prosecco, substitute it with another sparkling wine, such as champagne or cava. You can also use a dry white wine combined with an extra splash of sparkling water.
Easily create a non-alcoholic version of the Strawberry Limoncello Spritz by omitting the limoncello and prosecco. Mix strawberry puree with sparkling water and a splash of lemon juice for a refreshing mocktail that’s perfect for all ages.
