Fiery Pineapple Margarita

Even though I love a little heat in my cocktails, I know that spicy food and drinks can be like playing with fire (pun intended), if you’re prone to heartburn. Partnering with Wonderbelly Antacid inspired me to mix up the Fiery Pineapple Margarita, this twist on a classic margarita allows you to pick your own spice level with the addition of habanero. I personally chose to ramp up the spice this time and have no regrets!

The Fiery Pineapple Margarita combines tequila, and the sweetness of pineapple juice and agave, with a tangy kick from fresh lime juice. Habanero and a Tajin rim bring on the heat and elevate every sip!

If you love spice like I do, but it doesn’t always love you back, these are a game changer!

Ingredients for the Fiery Pineapple Margarita

  • Tequila: I like a smooth blanco tequila like Casamigos.
  • Pineapple Juice: Adds a perfect balance of sweetness and tropical goodness. I used Dole.
  • Lime: Fresh lime juice adds zesty and citrusy notes.
  • Agave: A touch of agave syrup enhances the overall sweetness.
  • Habanero: Sliced habanero peppers infuse the drink with a fiery heat. These peppers pack a punch, adjust to your preference and be careful when handling them.
  • Tajin: This chili-lime seasoning gives a spicy and tangy kick to each sip!
  • Garnish: A pineapple slice, frond, and habanero stem complete the cocktail for a tropical flair.

How to Make the Fiery Pineapple Margarita

Start by thinly slicing the habanero pepper, reserving the stem slice for garnish. In a cocktail shaker, combine tequila, pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, and agave syrup. Add 1 to 3 slices of habanero to the cocktail shaker, depending on your spice preference. Add ice to the shaker and shake vigorously until the mixture is chilled and well-mixed.

Prepare a glass by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into Tajin to coat it with the chili-lime seasoning. Fill the glass with ice and strain the cocktail mixture into the prepared glass. For a pop of color, garnish it with a slice of pineapple, a pineapple frond, and the habanero stem!
