Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Only 3 ingredients: No syrups, complicated mixers, or specialty ingredients needed.
  • Fall-ready flavor: Pear and ginger make a naturally cozy combination without making the drink overly sweet or heavy.
  • Low alcohol: A great option when you want something lighter than a traditional cocktail.
  • Ready in 3 minutes: Just pour, stir, garnish, and enjoy.
  • Easy to scale: Make one for yourself or multiply the ingredients for a fall gathering, Thanksgiving, or brunch.
  • Beautiful presentation: A pear slice, sage leaf, and star anise make this simple drink feel extra special.

Key Ingredients

See the recipe card for quantities.

  • Sauvignon Blanc: A crisp, refreshing white wine works especially well here. Sauvignon Blanc keeps the spritzer bright and balanced. A dry Pinot Grigio or another crisp white wine can also work.
  • Pear juice: Look for 100% pear juice for the cleanest, most natural pear flavor. RW Knudsen Pear Juice is what I used and is a great option. Avoid pear nectar if you want the drink to stay light and refreshing, since nectar is thicker and sweeter.
  • Ginger beer: Ginger beer adds bubbles and a spicy kick that keeps the pear flavor from tasting too sweet. Use a good-quality ginger beer with noticeable ginger flavor – I used Q Mixers Ginger Beer.
  • Pear, sage and star anise: Optional garnishes, but they make the drink feel especially seasonal. The fresh pear reinforces the main flavor while sage and star anise add an aromatic fall touch.

Substitutions & Variations

  • Swap the white wine: Sauvignon Blanc is my pick, but Pinot Grigio, Pinot Gris, or another dry white wine can be used.
  • Try sparkling wine: For an extra bubbly version, substitute part or all of the white wine with Prosecco.
  • Make it sweeter: Use a slightly sweeter pear juice or ginger beer if you prefer a sweeter spritzer.
  • Make it a mocktail: Replace the wine with sparkling water, additional ginger beer or a non-alcoholic white wine alternative. Adjust the pear juice to taste.
  • Turn it into a pitcher: Multiply the ingredients by the number of servings and combine in a pitcher just before serving. Add the ginger beer last to preserve the bubbles.
  • Make it a build-your-own: Since this drink is so easy to make with such few ingredients, if you’re hosting guests, set up a bar area where they can pour their own!

How to Make Pear White Wine Spritzer (Only 3 Ingredients)

Step 1: Build the wine spritzer

Fill a wine glass with ice. Add the Sauvignon Blanc, pear juice, and ginger beer.

Step 2: Stir and garnish

Use a bar spoon to gently stir everything together. Garnish with a pear slice, sage leaf, and star anise, if desired.

🍷 Serving tip: I love serving this in fluted glass goblets for an elevated look that still feels casual enough for an afternoon drink.

Optional: Prepare the garnish

If you’re serving these for a gathering, slice your pear and have your sage leaves and star anise ready before guests arrive. This makes assembling individual spritzers quick and easy.

Caroly’s Tips for Making Pear White Wine Spritzer (Only 3 Ingredients)

  • Use a crisp, dry white wine: Sauvignon Blanc works best because its acidity keeps the pear juice and ginger beer from making the drink feel too sweet.
  • Choose 100% pear juice: Pear nectar can be thicker and sweeter, while 100% juice keeps this spritzer light and refreshing.
  • Make it a mocktail: Replace the wine with sparkling water, additional ginger beer or a non-alcoholic wine alternative for a zero-proof version.

Pear White Wine Spritzer (Only 3 Ingredients) FAQs

What is a wine spritzer?

A wine spritzer is a simple drink made by combining wine with a bubbly mixer – typically sparkling water, soda water, or another carbonated beverage. I also love adding a third ingredient like fruit juice!

What wine is best for a wine spritzer?

Crisp, dry white wines like Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio work particularly well for wine spritzers. Their acidity and lighter flavor pair nicely with fruit juices and bubbly mixers.

Can you make a wine spritzer with red wine?

Yes, although white wine and rosé are typically popular for spritzers, red wine can be combined with sparkling water, club soda, or fruit flavors for a refreshing red wine spritzer.

Are wine spritzers low in alcohol?

Wine spritzers are generally lighter and lower in alcohol content than a full glass of wine or traditional cocktail because the wine is diluted with a non-alcoholic mixer. The exact alcohol content depends on the wine and the ratio of wine to mixer.

Can you make a wine spritzer ahead of time?

You can prepare the wine and pear juice ahead of time, but wait to add the ginger beer and ice until you’re ready to serve. This keeps the carbonation fresh.
