With March Maddness here, I was inspired to craft a cocktail that’s both bold and fiery! The Smokin’ Hot Hibiscus Mule is a unique twist on the classic Moscow Mule and combines smoky mezcal, zesty jalapeño, and vibrant Q Mixers Hibiscus Ginger Beer for a burst of flavor and spice.

The robust depth of charred lime and bold tequila kicks up the flavor profile in this drink. If tequila just isn’t your thing, feel free to lean towards a more traditional Moscow Mule and use a high quality vodka. Even if the team you want is falling flat, your drink shouldn’t!

Materials

  • 1 can Q Mixers Hibiscus Ginger Beer
  • 1 lime
  • Oil
  • 2 jalapeño slices, plus more for garnish
  • 1 oz mezcal
  • 1 oz tequila
  • Garnish: hibiscus flower, charred lime, jalapeño

Instructions

  • Cut a lime in half and brush with oil. Char on a pan over medium heat.
  • Add juice of half of the charred lime to a mule mug. Add jalapeno slices and muddle.
  • Fill the mug with ice. Add mezcal, tequila, Q Mixers Hibiscus Ginger beer and stir to combine.
