Harvest Apple (Apple Cider Whiskey Cocktail)
This apple pie inspired cocktail turned out so yummy! We’re also loving other fall cocktails, like my Maple Fig Margarita, Pumpkin Pie Whiskey Sour, or Blustery Blood Orange Todday. Whiskey, cider, and brown sugar work so perfectly together that’s cozy and so sippable. I used cider without added sugar. If you use a sweetened cider, you may want to adjust the brown sugar syrup so it’s not overly sweet.
Recipe Ingredients
Whiskey: Opt for your favorite high quality whiskey. I like Bulleit Bourbon.
Spiced Cider
Oat Milk: You can use almond or coconut here.
Lemon Juice: Fresh squeezed for the freshest flavor.
Add caramel to a shallow dish. Submerge a coupe glass in the caramel to coat the rim.
Add whiskey, spiced cider, oat milk, lemon juice, brown sugar syrup and ice to a cocktail shaker and shake until chilled.
Strain cocktail into the prepared cocktail glass. Garnish with apple ghost. Sprinkle with pumpkin pie spice.
For the Apple Ghost
Cut a thin slice from a large apple.
Use a paring knife to carefully cut out a ghost shape. Use a straw to cut out eyes and mouth.
For the Brown Sugar Syrup
Combine 1 part brown sugar (I used C&H Light Brown Sugar) with 1 part boiling water and stir until dissolved.
Cool before using.
I stored it in the fridge in these cute syrup bottles.
Sipping Tips & Tricks
What Whiskey Is Best for This Cocktail?
I recommend a bourbon whiskey, for its warmth notes that are perfect for this apple cider whiskey cocktail. Feel free to experiment with rye or Irish whiskey as well.
What If My Cider Already Has Sugar In It?
You may want to reduce the amount of brown sugar syrup. Taste as you go, and adjust according to your preference.
What Can I Use If I Don’t Have Oat Milk?
You can use any other daiy-free option like soy, almond, coconut, or cashew. Regular dairy milk also works!
