Tell Me More About Empress Gin

My favorite addition to this cocktail is the blue-hued gin. It pulls together the entire cocktail creating a very fresh and festive sipper.

I love mixing with Empress 1908 Gin not only because of the gorgeous color but also because the taste is so unique! Originating from the Victoria Distillers in British Columbia and crafted with 8 botanicals such as juniper, grapefruit peel, butterfly pea blossoms, and the Fairmont Empress Blend Tea in small-batch copper pots. Ingredients for the Empress Firecracker Cooler

  • Empress 1908 Gin: this botanical-forward gin adds a pop of color and fresh flavor. It’s made with 8 botanicals and micro-distilled in small-batch copper pots for a truly unique gin. P.S. watch this gin change colors with the addition of citrus juice!
  • Berries: muddle your favorite berries as the base of this cocktail. I used a mix of strawberries and raspberries to get a bright red color for this red, white, and blue-colored cocktail. But any berry you have on hand will work!
  • Coconut water: pour in your favorite coconut water as the middle layer. I used Vita Coco’s Original Coconut Water.
  • Berries, edible flower: for a finished look, garnish the cocktail with berries. I used a raspberry, blueberry, and blackberry. Hold the berries together with a cocktail pick. If desired, top the cocktail with an edible flower, I used a pansy.
  • Lemon wedge: when you’re ready to enjoy the cocktail, add in a squeeze of fresh lemon juice and stir together. The citrus juice will create a light pink color.

How to Make the Empress Firecracker Cooler

Create this cocktail using only 4 ingredients and a few bar tools like a collins glass and muddler. Once you’ve prepped your materials and ingredients, start by adding the berries to the glass and muddle until they are broken down. If you like a sweeter cocktail, you can also add ¼ oz agave with the berries, and muddle well together. Next, fill the glass with crushed ice. Make sure to use crushed ice and fully fill the glass to create a distinct layer effect. Then pour in the coconut water slowly. Then, slowly pour in the Empress 1908 Gin, creating a layer above the coconut water. Garnish with berries and an edible flower. When you’re ready to enjoy, squeeze in a little lemon juice and stir the cocktail together.
