What’s an Aperol Spritz?

It’s no surprise that Aperol Spritzes are one of the most popular cocktails during the spring and summer months. This low-ABV cocktail is a refreshing blend of Aperol – an Italian liqueur that’s a little sweet with a slightly bitter finish, Prosecco, and club soda or sparkling water topped with an orange slice. It’s simple yet delicious! But, let me show you how to level up your traditional Aperol Spritz and make it even more delicious.

Tropical Tangerine Aperol Spritz

The Tropical Tangerine Aperol Spritz

I love this riff on the classic Aperol Spritz because it’s a bit sweeter with tropical-tasting notes and a refreshing bubbly finish. This is the perfect drink to enjoy with your friends because it’s still a low-abv cocktail, it’s easy to make (only 4 ingredients), and it’s a great summertime sipper!
Keep reading to find out how to make the Tropical Tangerine Aperol Spritz and also how to infuse your own Aperol. Cheers!

Ingredients for the Tropical Tangerine Aperol Spritz

  • Pineapple-infused Aperol: take your spritz to the next level and infuse your Aperol with pineapple for a sweetened liqueur. I used pineapple chunks and let the mixture infuse for at least 8 hours.
  • Prosecco: I prefer to use a dryer Prosecco because it has a little bit of a sweeter taste. For this recipe, I recommend using La Marca Prosecco or Mionetto Prosecco
  • Tangerine juice: you can either juice your own tangerines using a citrus juicer or opt to buy fresh tangerine juice like this one, Natalie’s Tangerine Juice.
  • Sparkling water: Top your cocktail with your favorite sparkling water. I used LaCroix Tangerine for a vibrant, fresh, and sparkling finish. Click here to find where you can purchase the product.
  • Pineapple slice, pineapple frond, tangerine slice, and edible flowers: garnish this mocktail with a pineapple slice, pineapple frond, tangerine slice, and edible flowers if desired for a gorgeous look.

How to Make the Pineapple-infused Aperol Spritz

Infusing liqueurs is a simple way to elevate any cocktail or mocktail. To make this Pineapple-infused Aperol Spritz, start by soaking 8-10 ounces of fresh, chopped-up pineapple with a 750 mL bottle of Aperol for at least 8 hours or overnight, then strain out solids. Store the infused Aperol in the refrigerator for up to two weeks. This infusion creates a slightly sweetened essence to the tart liqueur.

How To Make a Tropical Tangerine Aperol Spritz

Once your Pineapple-infused Aperol is created, it’s time to create the Tropical Tangerine Aperol Spritz. Start by filling a wine glass with ice. Add the pineapple-infused Aperol, Prosecco, tangerine juice, and a splash of sparkling water. Use a bar spoon and stir to combine. If desired, garnish with a pineapple slice, pineapple frond, tangerine slice, and edible flowers. Enjoy!
