How to Level Up Your Marg For Cinco De Mayo

I’m all about minimal but fresh ingredients, so using the limited-edition Guava Lemonade Juice made by Natalie’s Orchid Island Juice Co. is an amazing addition! This mixer includes only 4 ingredients: guava, lemons, pure cane sugar, and water. Yup, that’s all! Using this varietal for the margarita creates the perfect base. Here are some other tips and tricks to take your margarita from boring to amazing!

Ways to Upgrade your Margarita:

  1. Use quality tequila: seems simple, right? But using premium ingredients makes such a difference! Avoid bottom-shelf tequila and find one that fits your budget and your tastebuds. Trust me, premium tequila tastes so much smoother too!
  2. Spice up your rim: add some zest or exciting spices to the rim of your cocktail glass. I used lemon and lime zest mixed with salt, but you can also use Tajin, a unique blend of spices, lime, and salt.
  3. Add a gorgeous, gorgeous garnish: using your ingredients as a garnish is the perfect way to top your tipple. Add a citrus wheel, wedge, twist, or spiral and cocktail spear to secure it on top.

Ingredients for the Guava Lemonade Margarita

The Guava Lemonade Margarita is made with just 4 ingredients. For a quick and delicious margarita, give it a try!

  • Natalie’s Juice Guava Lemonade: ethically sourced and freshly squeezed, this new and limited-edition flavor is the perfect addition to your margarita. Made with only guava, lemons, pure cane sugar, and water.
  • Tequila: Mix your preferred brand of premium tequila into this cocktail. I enjoy using Blanco tequila for my margaritas, but reposado will work too! Check out this list of great tequila options here
  • Lime juice: a squeeze of fresh lime juice will add a touch of citrus to this fresh cocktail. You can use lime concentrate but I recommend using fresh lime juice.
  • Lemon and lime zest: use a little lemon and lime zest to make the rim pop.
  • Flake salt: in addition to the lemon and lime zest, mix in flake salt to the mixture. This bigger, flakier type of salt will stick better to the rim. You can substitute this for sea salt too.
  • Citrus slices and edible flower: garnish your margarita with a citrus slice and edible flower for the final touch.

First, let’s prepare by rimming the glass. Combine lemon zest, lime zest, and salt in a shallow dish. Stir the mixture and coat the rim of a cocktail glass with lime juice using a lime wedge and submerge in salt mixture until coated all around.

Next, fill the prepared glass with ice. Add Natalie’s Juice Guava Lemonade, tequila, and lime juice. Use a bar spoon and stir to combine. If desired, garnish with citrus slices and an edible flower. Enjoy!
