Materials

For the Cardamom Grapefruit Gin and Tonic

  • oz Empress 1908 Gin
  • 2 oz fresh grapefruit juice
  • ½ oz lime juice
  • ½ oz cardamom syrup
  • 3 oz tonic water
  • Garnish: grapefruit wedge or wheel, sage leaf

For the Cardamom Syrup

  • ½ cup honey
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 tbsp cardamom pods, crushed

Instructions

For the Cardamom Grapefruit Gin and Tonic

  • Add grapefruit juice, lime juice, and cardamom syrup to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until chilled.
  • Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice. Strain the mixture into the glass. Slowly pour Empress Gin 1908 into the glass. Fill the glass with tonic water.
  • Garnish with a grapefruit slice and sage, if desired. Stir before enjoying.

For the Cardamom Syrup

  • Toast the cardamom in a saucepan over medium heat.
  • Add honey and water and stir. Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and cool completely. Strain into a glass jar.
