For the Blood Orange Rum Hot Toddy
- ½ tbsp loose leaf black tea (or 1 black tea bag)
- 8 oz water
- 1½ oz dark rum
- Juice of half small blood orange
- ½ tbsp maple syrup
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
For the Bruleed Blood Orange Slice Garnish
- 1 blood orange
- Granulated sugar
For the Blood Orange Rum Hot Toddy
Prepare water for tea. Steep tea for 3-4 minutes.
While the tea steeps, prepare bruleed blood orange slices.
Add dark rum, blood orange juice, black tea and maple syrup to a mug and stir.
Add a cinnamon stick and star anise. Serve with a bruleed orange slice.
For the Bruleed Blood Orange Slice Garnish
Slice blood orange into wheels of desired thickness. Pat slices dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
Place slices on a baking sheet. Sprinkle the top of the blood orange slices with sugar.
Use a kitchen torch to torch the top of the blood orange until they are golden brown.
