The Baby Blue Tequila Cocktail

Even though I’m expecting in a few months and can’t sip on fun cocktails like I used to, I still have my taste-tester, Travis a.k.a my husband to enjoy them for me. And he swears by the Baby Blue Tequila Cocktail. This may be his new summer go-to cocktail too! So, grab your cocktail shaker and pour up the Baby Blue Tequila Cocktail for a bright, tropical, and lightly sweetened drink that gives you those vacation feels.

Psst… Looking for a non-alcoholic version? Try the Baby Blue Colada Mocktail. It has most of the same amazing ingredients and flavors, minus the tequila, of course.

How To Make Your Cocktail Blue

Want to make your cocktail stand out, taste amazing, and give it a hint of blue? Here are some of my recommendations:

  • DaVinci Gourmet Blue Raspberry Syrup: This syrup does not include any alcohol, so it’s safe to use with kids or pregnant women. This syrup is also delicious in lemonades, smoothies, and mocktails.
  • Blue Curacao: This blue-hued, orange-tasting syrup doesn’t have any alcohol either, although other Blue Curacao Syrups typically contain alcohol, so please be sure to double-check the brands and always consult with your doctor.
  • Berries: this is an easy, all-natural way to release a blue-ish color. Muddle blackberries and blueberries together to release the juices and violet hue. Remember to use a strainer if you do not want all the skins and pulp.
  • Butterfly Pea Blossom: here’s another all-natural alternative! Steep the dried butterfly pea blossom in hot water for a few minutes for a magical and vibrant color released. Note: you can add sugar to the dried butterfly pea blossom and hot water to sweeten up the flavor.

Ingredients for the Baby Blue Tequila Cocktail

Here’s what I used to create this tasty, tropical, and blue mocktail:

  • Tequila: add in your favorite tequila. I enjoy using Blanco tequila for my margaritas (when I could enjoy margaritas). Brands like Espolòn Tequila Blanco or Casamigos are a great choice.
  • Blue Raspberry Syrup: pick up this syrup from your local Walmart and add a pop of blue to this delicious drink. The Blue Raspberry Syrup by DaVinci Gourmet is bright, slightly tart, and oh so tasty! Add just a little to make this drink stand out.
  • Cream of coconut: I used cream of coconut by the brand Coco Loco to add a bit of creaminess and fresh coconut flavors to this cocktail.
  • Pineapple juice: for a taste of tropical sweetness, add in pineapple juice! I used Dole Pineapple Juice but you can also make your own using pineapple and a juicer.
  • Lime juice: a squeeze of fresh lime juice adds some citrus notes that balance beautifully with the syrup and pineapple juice.
  • Nutmeg: add in a pinch of ground nutmeg, I used McCormick Nutmeg, but any brand will suffice as long as it’s ground.
  • Garnish: top this mixed drink with a pineapple slice, lime wheel, and edible flower for a finished look and tropical feel.

How to Make the Baby Blue Tequila Cocktail

Let’s shake up this fun, tropical, and blue-hued cocktail in just a few, easy steps!

Start by adding all the ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake until the outside of the cocktail tin is chilled. Next, fill a cocktail glass with crushed ice. Strain the cocktail mixture into the glass with crushed ice. Finally, garnish with a piece of pineapple, lime slice, and an edible flower for a fully tropical feel. Enjoy!

Recipe Notes:

  • You can exchange the Blue Raspberry Sauce for Blue Curacao for the same blue color, but it won’t have the same exact flavor as the Blue Raspberry Syrup
  • Looking to add a blue hue in an all-natural way? Try muddling berries and adding that juice or steeping dried butterfly pea blossom, letting it cool, and adding that instead!
  • Want to make this non-alcoholic? Substitute the tequila for your favorite brand of coconut water, check out the Baby Blue Colada Mocktail.
